A Swan friend sent us this wonderful video of some actual swans, munching on seaweed in Napeague Bay. Even with food hanging out of their beaks, you can't deny the majesty and grace of these fine feathered friends!

robbinschilds' for your dance education dose! Sonya Robbins and Layla Childs have been making work together as friends and collaborators since 2003. Their work combines not only movement and dance, but a beautiful and powerful investigation of how movement can inhabit visual art and video. They travel all over the world collaborating with artists to make site specific video and photography pieces that contain vibrant color, texture and sound, as well as their own fascinating and transformative selves. These works often make their way onto the stage to accompany live performance or into galleries to be shown as stand-alone visual art. Their work is magical, powerful, subtle and incredibly beautifully. Keep your eyes peeled for must see performances and showings by these two lovely ladies. Both Layla and Sonya are mothers who live in Brooklyn!

Astrological Readings at The Swan with Sam Miller!
We are SO excited to announce that we will be hosting a day (or two) of astrological readings with our friend Sam Miller! The first round of readings will be held October 12 at the Swan! Each reading will last approximately 2 hours and the cost is $150 per reading. Pre-registration is necessary to give Same time to prepare your chart. Email us at TheSwanPilates@gmail.com to sign up! Sam Greenleaf Miller, LMSW, is an artist, witch and trained psychotherapist working as an astrological counselor in Brooklyn, NY. She is a graduate of the Nightlight Astrology School and earned her MSW from Smith College's School for Clinical Social Work. Her 2 hour Natal Chart Readings explore clients' birth charts, offering them insight into both what hangs them up/where they self-sabotage, as well as showing them the way to cultivate their own personal freedom.

Awesome Dallas Clayton
Dallas Clayton shares ideas, images, inspiration and thoughtfulness with children, through his Awesome Books, and with adults, via his blog and social media presence. You may have stumbled across Dallas Clayton's work on Instagram or at a book store. He has contributed his positive heart and endless imagination to book tours across the states visiting elementary schools, hospitals or book stores to do readings and have super fun events for children. His books are some of our favorites and we tend to give them out to new mothers right and left. He creates beautiful and hilarious drawings that kids adore as well as lovely, tear-jerking poetics adults love. We have known Dallas for as many years as we've known each other. He has always been creating, putting on shows, inspiring and making people happy and we are still so excited to see what he will come up with next. We visited Jill Lindsey's store in Ft Greene this week and it is lovely! She carries handmade leather sandals, handmade soaps, colorful handmade rugs and throws (to die for! someone buy me one please), beautiful clothes and killer jewelry. We sat at the wine bar in the back (you heard right), drank rose and hung out with beautiful smiling Jill. Definitely worth a trip to Myrtle Avenue.
